Trip Souvenirs: light on your wallet and on your pack
Memories, mementos, and knick knacks…if you’re like me, you might enjoy delighting family and friends with trinkets from your adventures. Shopping can easily get expensive and heavy, so here is a list of things you can bring back without breaking the bank or your back. Photographs It’s probably a given, but photographs are my favorite way to remember my trip and share the travel adventures with others. I post adventures on social media so family can follow along in real time and I can easily go back and revisit. I also enjoying working on photos when I return home to create one of a kind wall art! Why hang a generic…

24 hours in Montreal
My partner(James) was up in New Hampshire for work and they offered to fly me up as well (um, awesome!) and while I was there I realized… …we are 4 hours from Montreal …WE ARE FOUR HOURS FROM MONTREAL?! SO, we were on our way to Montreal THAT next Saturday for a 24 hour trip! On the way, I booked an Airbnb for $30. Isn’t working technology grand? It wasn’t the most glamorous apartment, but it was the entire place and the host communicated so well from the beginning. Plus, it seemed like a steal in comparison to the hotels in the area ($200+ a night). Once we…

Pack Light
Packing light saves me time, money, and provides a unique freedom to roam as I please. Time spent… checking baggage: 0 waiting for bags at carousel: 0 making a lost luggage claim: 0 lugging bags around airport or paying for airport carts: 0 One of the BEST feelings is stepping off the plane and seamlessly b-lining to the train station without having to worry about lugging weight. I never hear myself mumble that I have to “drop off this luggage” and consequently get stuck at the hotel before I see and experience new things. I go immediately to lunch… or to the lake! I think of it as a spring…

Speed Thrifting Haul
This week’s haul was all over the place. I was speed thrifting (is that a thing?!) after work this Friday before our weekend trip to see some friends AND I was looking for particular items AND I found them (and a few bonuses)! It was a very random, but also very lucky thrifting haul. It started with a $6 ice cream maker. This wasn’t on my trip list, but it’s been on my to-do list. Can’t wait to make my Punkin Ale ice cream! A little Clorox and good as new! I needed a few things to wear this weekend. I found these Erica Taylor pants for $4 with tags…

Thrifting Haul
I know everyone is getting ready for fall and Han Solo season is almost upon us, but if you’re in Houston Texas it STILL feels like tropical weather (maybe all the tropical storms?) So, my thrifting haul this week was floral and bright! Guess I was trying to thrift the rainy weather away and who doesn’t like a good, colorful deal?! The prize this week was a lovely Nipon Boutique dress. But first, I’ll get started with these adorable Linux? 😉 earrings for $2! WAY better than pearls alone, I found these guys in the same basket as a dangly pair of rainbow earrings. I don’t usually carry a purse…

Europe: 2 Travelers, 10 days, $2400
My travel partner and I took a trip to Europe for cheap. Traveling cheap is not for the faint of heart, but if your heart is full of nothing but true wanderlust and you don’t mind packing light, read on! Here is how we did it. First decision we had to make: when to travel? Stuff we knew– We wanted to take as little paid time off (PTO) as possible We wanted to see as few crowds as possible (off season) We didn’t care about the weather We landed on Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving holiday gave us a few extra days off plus added weekends. Total, we only took 5 days…

Why Thrift?
I cannot wear an outfit, cook a meal or host an event without a thing or two that has been given a new life through thrift. Thrifting makes sense for so many reasons, but if you’re on the fence here are a few to consider! Thrifting can help your community. Depending on the thrift store, the funds can go directly back into the community you love and live in. Thrifting is easy on the planet. Why make and buy new, when you can buy a perfectly good version that already exists! Skip the filling up another landfill situation all together! Thrifting is easy your wallet. $100 for a pair of jeans?…
