From NYC to Dhakla and back!
Took the trip of a lifetime this last holiday and thought I’d share a few snapshots here. I improved our usual Google sheets scheduling tool by adding an activity type column/filter this year, which allowed us to quickly re-organize on the go. It made pre-checking in for our six flights* alot easier. Our route: Houston-NYC-Madrid-Porto-Lisbon-Fes-Agadir-Dhakla-Marrakech-Houston! Ready? Let’s GO! *technically seven flights…we can sleep when we’re dead, right?!

Iceland: 2 travelers, 5 days: $1984
Iceland was the very first international trip my travel partner and I embarked on and it’s also where we got engaged. 10/10- would travel to Iceland again and not just because I returned wearing ice of my own. Iceland, if you’re on a budget, is possible. Reasons we wanted to go: Iceland is beautiful! What is particularly wonderful about Iceland is that the landscape (the heart of why you go) is the best and least expensive if not totally free portion of the trip Iceland is safe Iceland is a great beginners traveling destination. We did a short 5 day trip. It was a perfect warm up for a lifetime…

New Orleans: Stay, Eat, Drink, Do
Still working on this one, but there’s just SO MUCH to tell you about! New Orleans and surrounding Louisiana is pretty much where my now husband romanced me during our initial year of dating (he knew what he was doing!) and because of this, I am fairly certain it’s where I fell in love with him and his family. We still visit NOLA regularly and every time I experience something new and wonderful. I often see posts on several travel groups about where to stay, what to see, what to eat, etc., so I decided to compile a list of my favorites here for safekeeping and to sometimes share! You…

Trip Souvenirs: light on your wallet and on your pack
Memories, mementos, and knick knacks…if you’re like me, you might enjoy delighting family and friends with trinkets from your adventures. Shopping can easily get expensive and heavy, so here is a list of things you can bring back without breaking the bank or your back. Photographs It’s probably a given, but photographs are my favorite way to remember my trip and share the travel adventures with others. I post adventures on social media so family can follow along in real time and I can easily go back and revisit. I also enjoying working on photos when I return home to create one of a kind wall art! Why hang a generic…

24 hours in Montreal
My partner(James) was up in New Hampshire for work and they offered to fly me up as well (um, awesome!) and while I was there I realized… …we are 4 hours from Montreal …WE ARE FOUR HOURS FROM MONTREAL?! SO, we were on our way to Montreal THAT next Saturday for a 24 hour trip! On the way, I booked an Airbnb for $30. Isn’t working technology grand? It wasn’t the most glamorous apartment, but it was the entire place and the host communicated so well from the beginning. Plus, it seemed like a steal in comparison to the hotels in the area ($200+ a night). Once we…

Pack Light
Packing light saves me time, money, and provides a unique freedom to roam as I please. Time spent… checking baggage: 0 waiting for bags at carousel: 0 making a lost luggage claim: 0 lugging bags around airport or paying for airport carts: 0 One of the BEST feelings is stepping off the plane and seamlessly b-lining to the train station without having to worry about lugging weight. I never hear myself mumble that I have to “drop off this luggage” and consequently get stuck at the hotel before I see and experience new things. I go immediately to lunch… or to the lake! I think of it as a spring…

Europe: 2 Travelers, 10 days, $2400
My travel partner and I took a trip to Europe for cheap. Traveling cheap is not for the faint of heart, but if your heart is full of nothing but true wanderlust and you don’t mind packing light, read on! Here is how we did it. First decision we had to make: when to travel? Stuff we knew– We wanted to take as little paid time off (PTO) as possible We wanted to see as few crowds as possible (off season) We didn’t care about the weather We landed on Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving holiday gave us a few extra days off plus added weekends. Total, we only took 5 days…
