Why Thrift?
I cannot wear an outfit, cook a meal or host an event without a thing or two that has been given a new life through thrift. Thrifting makes sense for so many reasons, but if you’re on the fence here are a few to consider!
- Thrifting can help your community. Depending on the thrift store, the funds can go directly back into the community you love and live in.
- Thrifting is easy on the planet. Why make and buy new, when you can buy a perfectly good version that already exists! Skip the filling up another landfill situation all together!
- Thrifting is easy your wallet. $100 for a pair of jeans? $40 for a new top? I am fairly certain you can take home an entire wardrobe for $140. Save your money!
- Thrift is a thrilling! It’s all about the hunt! Searching for something special is always so much fun. Finding something unexpected, like the time I found a brand new Free People dress (retails $145) WITH tags for $2.25…so awesome!
- Thrifting often means better quality. This isn’t to say the Goodwill won’t mark up Dollar Store frisbees for $3 (this actually happened), but thrifting allowed me to afford a nicer set of Reidel wine glasses (vs. IKEA ones). Think of it as a creative way to upgrade.
These are just a few reasons to consider a dig at your local thrift store.
