Houston Engagement Photography Spots

…in north Houston!

There are a ton of great spots in north Houston for engagement photography.  While many flock downtown for the occasion, I would like to kindly suggest spots outside the loop to anyone who desires to incorporate their home sweet home into their {engagement} story.

So, here are four great spots!

Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, 22306 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338

Pros: Greenery everywhere you look and the grounds are meticulously maintained. I did a maternity shoot here and the bokehlicious shots were stunning with solid vegetation. The garden added some great vibes of serenity and it was free to use. We had a wonderful afternoon.

Cons: The park maintains strict hours. There are photographers EVERYWHERE. I smiled so much at other photographers that my face hurt a little after four hours. Just be prepared to wait your turn and be careful not to step in anyone else’s shot! Photo bomb!

Old Town Spring, 403 Main St, Spring, TX 77373

Pros: There is a big selection of colorful porches, doorways, steps, and minimal car traffic on the streets. When I did a couple shoot there, we even brought her guitar and used one of the rustic looking benches. I vote this spot super cute and give you extra points if you incorporate a lemon freeze.

Cons: Busy, busy during shopping hours. Some business owners are extra watchful. Not that this is a bad thing, but I did have a shop owner scold me in advance? for even thinking about standing on one of the benches. P.S. We definitely did not do that; vertically challenged people like me bring a ladder-always.

Meyer Park, 7700 Cypresswood Drive Spring, Texas 77379

Pros:If you want a county setting and you are a nature oriented couple, this is the spot for you! A photo shoot trail walking and exploring is perfect here for the outdoorsy couple. There are a few tiny bridges, too! And WIDE OPEN, you have plenty space to take photographs and do not have to worry too much about people traffic.

Cons: I’ve noticed many brown tones coming through in my work, which is totally fine, but if you are going for a super green background this might not be the place. There are also limited man-made structures for sitting, posing, etc.

The Woodlands Waterway, 1601 Lake Robbins Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77380

Pros: Water plus lights during golden hour means amazing reflections and mood. This location gives off a romantic vibe when restaurants lining the waterway start to seat their first tables and the sun is setting. There’s a neat miniature water wall, a wooden dock, a bridge and concrete benches all nearby. Also hidden in this area is the tiny Koi Garden. It’s small, but the possibilities are mighty!

Cons:  I-45 is undergoing some…changes–be prepared and keep updated with traffic and bring a snack!

No matter where you choose to have your photos taken the most important thing is that you are comfortable and that you have fun! These four places are only the first that come to mind and I am sure there are dozens more. Just trying to keep you in the loop by exploring outside the loop.
