A visit to the Cidery, just in time for fall!
If you live in Houston and haven’t been to the cider taproom at City Orchard, I highly recommend you check it out. The space is beautiful and the cider is top notch. PLUS the weather was perfect for a little photography and I can only see Houston weather getting better from this point on! Here are a few photos from our time at City Orchard! Cheers, y’all!

Working with Design Riot & Crystal Mathis
I was so fortunate to work with local branding dynamite duo: Shannon and Tanya from Design Riot and health coach Crystal Mathis this weekend. If you are in need of branding power or wellness and need to connect with good people–check them out! Our team was so lucky to have such a welcoming host at a stunning home on the east side of Houston for the shoot and Crystal was beautiful inside and out! Crystal is competing in the open call for Sports Illustrated. She radiates body positivity and has arrived at this point through a longterm healthy plan. Working with her was inspiring and a ton of fun! This…

Beth & Matt
Beth and Matt were happily married when I met them and wanted to have a family celebration for those that missed the elopement…everyone! 😉 The casual and incredibly sweet gathering took place at their home in Houston with fun photos beforehand at the Flower Vault. I can honestly say it was one of the happiest (and best dressed!) weddings I’ve ever been to (and photographed)! Many happy years ahead for Beth & Matt!

She said YES!
Congratulations to Ashley and Nate. Love above all! What an honor to be their photographer for this important moment. Things I really enjoyed about this session: it was a surprise!, I managed to avoid using flash (the moment was preserved, but not altered), she said yes!

How to look your best in photos: The Jess Test!
In this arena I’m a little atypical as a photographer. I won’t outlaw your patterns or your funky footwear choices. I want you to be you. So, let’s do this! But first, about that snazzy dress… does it pass the three part Jess Test? Part One: Does it fit…like can you move in it? A simple, but honest question you must ask yourself. I know it’s easy to say “yep, sure does, it zipped!”, until you find yourself doing the worm throughout our session. Totally fine with dancing. Totally not okay with you being uncomfortable. Part Two: Is it clean? I’m sure it smells good, what I mean is, is it…

Hillary & Tal
What a wonderful happenstance to meet this couple! Although Hillary continuously stressed that their wedding would be “non-traditional”, I only witnessed the best of traditions during their wedding day. Most of which related to their open, hilarious and kind families. The day began at Hotel Icon where the bride and groom got ready. The nuptials were held under a special Chuppah in the grassy greens under trees at The New Potato in east downtown. After they said I do, they wined and dined in celebration at The Pass and Provisions. And last but not least, the conclusion was a nightcap at Public Services Wine and Whiskey downtown Houston. It was…

Part I/II Engagement Photo DIY: The Gear List
Recently we took our own engagement photos for our wedding website. Before I get started on the how to’s, a few quick disclaimers: A good photographer, no matter what the occasion, is the worth the investment. That said, this DIY requires pricey photo equipment. Luckily, you can rent everything you need (or perhaps the one or two things you do not already have)! That is what this post is about–the gear list! I put two rental lists together: The least expensive recommended equipment. Get the most bang for your buck! What I used. …because in my opinion, nothing compares to the Zeiss and Sony brands (sharp as a tack). If you want the…

Houston Engagement Photography Spots
…in north Houston! There are a ton of great spots in north Houston for engagement photography. While many flock downtown for the occasion, I would like to kindly suggest spots outside the loop to anyone who desires to incorporate their home sweet home into their {engagement} story. So, here are four great spots! Mercer Arboretum and Botanic Gardens, 22306 Aldine Westfield Rd, Humble, TX 77338 Pros: Greenery everywhere you look and the grounds are meticulously maintained. I did a maternity shoot here and the bokehlicious shots were stunning with solid vegetation. The garden added some great vibes of serenity and it was free to use. We had a wonderful afternoon. Cons: The park maintains strict…
